New Name, Lots of New Faces, Same Results June 12 2005 The High Flying Jets of the Flight101 Track and Field Club competed this weekend in the Lake Erie AAU District Championships hosted by the West Akron Track Club at Ellet High School in Akron Ohio. Formerly the Warren-Massillon Striders, Flight101's High Flying Jets qualified 11 athletes in 18 events for the AAU Regional Championships to be held on July 2nd and 3rd at Wooster High School Stadium, Wooster Ohio. Paced by gold medal performances by Jackson Middle School students Alexandra Rossetti in the Shot Put and Jahari Murdock in the 400m dash, the High Flying Jets had 10 silver and 4 bronze medalist among the 12 area athletes competing in the 2005 District Championships. The top six finishers from the District advance to the Regional Championships with the top four finishers from the Regional Championships will qualify for the AAU National Championships to be held July 31st thru August 6th in New Orleans LA. After nearly 20 years of competing as an affiliate of the Warren Ohio Striders Track Club, the team re-organized this season as Flight101 Track and Field. Flight101 Track and Field is a grass roots track and field program open to northeast Ohio youth of all ages. Based in Jackson Township Stark County Ohio, it is the mission of Flight101, through participation in organized athletics, to help young athletes develop their fullest potential regardless of athletic ability. Potential not limited to athletic achievement but to help young athletes develop their potential physically, psychologically, socially and academically.
